निर्वाण षटकम्‌ * Nirvana Shatakam * श्री नर्मदाष्टकम

 निर्वाण षटकम्‌   Nirvana Shatakam  *  श्री नर्मदाष्टकम

Nirvana Shatakam is a wonderful creation by Shankaracharya. Nirvana Shatakam reveals the dualistic nature of spiritual being as a human.  Nirvana Shatakam reveals that 99% of our self is non-form that which can't be seen and touch.

Nirvana Shatakam further elaborates that not only we are formless but a joy that can't be described. The joy is 'sat-chit-anand'. The feeling can only be felt by an extra-ordinary 'Yogi' who has transcended each and every limit of form as well as formless.

Such an art of existence can only be felt by a person who has merged himself with 'Shiva' or the true essence of Brahmand. Nevertheless, practicing Nirvana Shatakam helps a person to get the glimpse of the joy which every 'Yogi' craves to deserve in his life.

The great Adi Shankara (first Shankaracharya) of the eighth century summarized the entirety of Advaita Vedanta (non-dualistic philosophy) in six stanzas.

This is one of the rare stotras written by Adi Shankara Bhagwat Pada identifying himself the Lord Shiva and clearly explaining his theory of non-dualism. It is mellifluous and has remarkable tempo.

Shimoga, officially known as Shivamogga, is a city and the district headquarters of Shimoga district in the central part of the state of Karnataka, India. The city lies on the banks of the Tunga River

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunga_River

The name of the city is derived from the term "shivmoga". A version of etymology is due to the story that Lord Shiva drank the Tunga river water using "Mogge", hence the name Shiva-mogga". Another version of etymology is that the name is derived from the term "Sihi-Mogge", meaning "sweet pot".

On 1 November 2006, the government of Karnataka announced the renaming of Shimoga to "Shivamogga", along with nine other cities in the state. The central government approved (12 cities) the request in the October 2014 and the city was renamed on 1 November 2014.

The river Tunga is famous for the sweetness of its water and is considered to be the sweetest water in the world. There is a belief that " Thunga pana Ganga snana" which means we should drink the water of river thunga and take bath in river Ganga.

Shri Chandikamba Temple, the Holy place of South Karnataka, is located at the top of the hill known as Balebare Ghati of the Western Ghats near Shimoga Distirct. The Temple is surrounded by a water fall rich thick forest known as Chandikavana.

{Sringeri, on the banks of the Tunga, has several temples, the most important being the Śhāradā temple and the Vidyāśhankara temple.}

Being the gateway for the hilly region of the Western Ghats, the city is popularly nicknamed as "Gateway to Malnad".

The city is 569 m above sea level and is surrounded by lush green paddy fields, arecanut and coconut groves. It is located 267 kms from the state capital Bangalore and 195 kms from the port city Mangalore.

Malenadu Region in Karnataka is known for its abundant rainfall and rich existence of flora and fauna. Western ghats act as the rain barrier during south-west monsoon season. This region is one of the wettest regions in the world where the rainfall measurements had overflown over 7000mm whereas Cheerapunji and Mawsynram at average receives about 11,000mm of rainfall per year.

Sringeri also called Sri Kshetra Shringeri is a hill town and Taluk headquarters located in Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the site of the first maṭha (Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham) established by Adi Shankara, Hindu theologian and exponent of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, in the 8th century CE. Located on the banks of the river Tungā, the town draws a large number of pilgrims to its temples of Sri Sharadamba, Sri Vidyashankara, Sri Malahanikareshvara and other deities.

The river Sharavati originates at a place called Ambutheertha in the Thirthahalli taluk. According to ancient legend, the god Rama shot at the ground with his Ambu (translates to bow and arrow) because his wife, Sita, was thirsty. When his arrow hit the ground, water poured out (translates to Thirtha) and quenched her thirst. Because the river, according to the legend, originated with this event, the river is called "Sharavati" as "Shara" translates to arrow.

A part of the Sharavati river basin was declared as a wildlife sanctuary on 20 April 1972. Spread over an area of 431.23 km2 (166 sq mi), it has dense evergreen and semi-evergreen forests. Linganamakki reservoir, with an area of 128.7 km2 (50 sq mi), is a part of this sanctuary. The remaining area has been divided into core zone (74.33 km2.), buffer zone (170.67 km2) and tourism zone (57.53 km2). The altitude in the sanctuary varies from 94 m to 1102 m, the highest point being Devarakonda on the southern edge of the sanctuary. Temperatures range from 15° to 38 °C and the mean annual rainfall is 4500 mm.

Shettihalli Wildlife Sanctuary lies adjacent to Shimoga town and has forests ranging from dry deciduous to semi-evergreen and is spread over an area of 395.6 km2 (152.7 sq mi).

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is the protected area and the tiger reserve as part of the Project Tiger, situated in Chikkamagaluru district, 23 km (14 mi) south of Bhadravathi city, 38 km (24 mi) 20 km from Tarikere town, northwest of Chikkamagaluru and 283 km from Bengaluru city in Karnataka state, India. Bhadra sanctuary has a wide range of flora and fauna and is a popular place for day outings. The 1,875 m (6,152 ft) above MSL Hebbe Giri is the highest peak in the sanctuary.

The Sharadamba Temple at Sringeri (Shringa giri in Sanskrit) is an 8th-century temple, founded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. It housed a sandalwood statue of Shardamba in a standing posture, which was installed by Adi Shankarachaya until the Vijayanagara rulers and Sri Vidyaranya (12th Jagadguru) installed a seated gold statue of Sri Shardamba in the 14th century.
